Encephalitis in Terai region of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Nepal

- The harrowing tale continues since 1978. Japanese Encephalitis has so far been contained to some extent but the Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) continues - More than 20,000 children died and about the same number got mentally or physically disabled due to the disease in about 36 districts of terai region. The Union Government has recently launched a massive vaccination programme against AES. The children up to 15 years of age will be immunised against this deadly disease.
